Welcome to the Sarthe Highway Patrol Community Rule page!

Below you will find road laws and rules governing conduct in our Higway Simulator lobbies. These help us keep and maintain order in a room full of civilians.

SHP Highway Simulator Road Laws:

1. Speeding - Driving in excess of 70MPH or 112KmH

2.RECKLESS DRIVING/RECKLESS OPERATION - INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO - LOSING CONTROL OF YOUR VEHICLE; SKIDDING TIRES IN ANY WAY; DRIFTING; LANE SHARING; DRIVING/PASSING ON THE SHOULDER; ENDANGERING THE MOTORING PUBLIC.

3.WRONG SIDE OF ROAD - WHEN A CIVILIAN IS CONSISTENTLY USING THE THE LEFT SIDE WHICH IS THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROADWAY.

4.IMPEDING TRAFFIC/MINIMUM SPEED VIOLATION -  IT IS CONSIDERED ILLEGAL ON THE MAIN STRAIGHT WHEN YOU ARE GOING UNDER 40MPH IN THE "FAST LANE" WHICH IS THE LANE THAT IS NOT THE SHOULDER. ON THE 2 OTHER STRAIGHTS; THE ONLY TYPE OF BLOCKING ROADWAY/IMPEDING TRAFFIC THAT IS ILLEGAL IS IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY BLOCKING TRAFFIC and/or are hindering the movement of others.

5.FAILURE TO YIELD - FAILURE TO YIELD THE RIGHT OF WAY TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC (I.E. PULLING OUT IN FRONT OF SOMEONE)

6.TAILGATING - FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY TO SOMEONE IN FRONT OF YOU. A GOOD WAY TO tell THAT YOU ARE TOO CLOSE TO SOMEONE IS IF YOUR BLIP ON THE COURSE MAP IS INSIDE SOMEONE ELSE’S BLIP IN FRONT OF YOU.

7. VEHICULAR ASSAULT - VEHICULAR ASSAULT IS WHEN A CIVILIAN NEGLIGENTLY MAKES CONTACT WITH ANOTHER PERSON. THIS CAN BE RESOLVED BY A SIMPLE APOLOGY, TICKET, OR BOTH.

8.FAILURE TO MAINTAIN LANE - THIS IS A SEPARATE CHARGE FOR WHEN SOMEONE ACCIDENTALLY OR INTENTIONALLY GOES OUT OF THEIR LANE OR CROSSES A SOLID LINE.

9.FAILURE TO USE A TURN SIGNAL - FAILURE TO USE PROPER TURN SIGNALS WHEN PASSING OR TURNING ONTO OR OFF THE ROADWAY OR WHEN PASSING.

10.TRESPASSING - ISSUED TO PEOPLE THAT GO INSIDE THE BARRIERS ON EITHER OF THE CHICANES.

11.FAILURE TO YIELD TO AN EMERGENCY VEHICLE - THIS CHARGE CAN BE APPLIED TO PEOPLE THAT REFUSE TO PULL OVER FOR ANY EMERGENCY VEHICLE. THE CIVILIAN MUST MOVE TO THE RIGHT IN ORDER TO PROPERLY YIELD TO THE EMERGENCY VEHICLE. THE EMERGENCY VEHICLE MUST HAVE THEIR HEADLIGHTS FLASHING CONSTANTLY AND ALSO MUST HAVE HAZARD LIGHTS ON OR ELSE THIS CHARGE MAY BE INVALID. THIS DOES NOT SUBSTITUTE FOR FELONY EVADING.

12.EXCESSIVE USE OF HORN - THIS CHARGE CAN BE APPLIED TO PEOPLE THAT ARE USING THEIR HORN FOR LITTLE TO NO REASON AT ALL.

13.DISREGARDING ROAD BLOCK - THIS CHARGE CAN BE APPLIED TO CIVILIANS THAT GO AROUND A ROAD BLOCK IN AN ATTEMPT TO COMPLETELY DISREGARD ANY SITUATION WHERE IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO SHUT DOWN A ROAD OR LANE OF TRAFFIC. WHEN AN SHP TROOPER HAS SHUT DOWN A ROAD, THE TROOPER MUST BE PERPENDICULAR TO THE ROAD THAT IS SHUT DOWN AND PARKED AT NO LESS OF AN ANGLE OF 45 DEGREES OF THE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL. IF ONLY ONE LANE OF TRAFFIC IS TO BE SHUT DOWN, AN SHP TROOPER MUST PARK THEIR VEHICLE AT NO GREATER THAN A 45 DEGREE ANGLE AND MUST BE PARKED ON THE LANE TO WHICH THEY ARE RE-ROUTING TRAFFIC THROUGH.

14.DRIVING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS - WHEN RAINING, OR WHEN THE TRACK IS WET, EVEN IF YOU ARE DRIVING UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT, YOU MUST HAVE THE PROPER EQUIPMENT ON YOUR VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR YOU TO properly maintain control OF YOUR VEHICLE AT SPEED LIMIT. IF YOU ARE LOSING CONTROL OF YOUR VEHICLE AT OR BELOW SPEED LIMIT THEN YOU ARE CONSIDERED TO BE "DRIVING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS". IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU USE PROPER TIRES FOR MAINTAINING GOOD TRACTION AT OR BELOW SPEED LIMIT. IT IS ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT YOU USE TRACTION CONTROL AS WELL.

PASSING RULES: DO NOT SPEED WHILE PASSING!!! ON THE WHOLE TRACK, PASS ON THE LEFT, IF/WHEN CLEAR. MUST PASS ONLY ON A DOTTED LINE OR IF NO LINE PRESENT. THERE ARE SECTIONS WHERE THERE IS A SOLID LINE THAT HAS A BRIEF INTERRUPTION FOR THE ROUNDABOUTS THAT ARE USED ON THE IRL TRACK. THIS IS TO BE TREATED AS A CONTINUATION OF THE SOLID LINE AND IS NOT MEANT TO BE USED FOR PASSING. (SPEED LIMIT IS 70MPH/112KPH)

OUR Ticket Structure:

Traffic Tickets: 3/3 traffic tickets = Change Car, vehicle is impounded. Each time you are given a ticket, the count goes up by +1 ticket no matter if you are given multiple charges per ticket, unless given a warning. Traffic tickets stay with the car and not the user.

Felony Tickets - Each Felony ticket you receive = CHANGE CAR, vehicle impounded, unless given a warning. 4/4 Felony Tickets = KICK.

Our Felonies are: *Evading Police for 5 seconds or more (*after the Trooper has made visual contact or what we call “10-11 contact”), Assaulting an Officer, Hit and Run (when reported or witnessed), Obstruction of Justice, Giving False Information, Vehicle Contest (RACING).

*Felony Evading (More information)- If you leave a traffic stop before a ticket or contact has been issued, you will be cited for Felony Evading but only once the Trooper has started typing the ticket. If you leave the track once you are pulled over or if SHP Troopers are chasing you, you not only will be cited for Felony Evading but will also be given a Kick Warning for "Pit-Warping"(See below). If, during a pursuit, you come to a stop long enough where a Trooper can start typing a ticket, you will be considered as "Stopped", however, you must be at a full stop OR not being able to escape a "block" in order for this to apply.

*“10-11 contact” explained- 10-11 contact is when an SHP Trooper has either made visual contact behind you with flashing headlights or if you have passed a sort of road block by a marked SHP Trooper, thus justifies a reasonable expectation that you are knowingly committing “Felony Evading”.

Warrants:

If at any time you were seen by an SHP Trooper that was pre-occupied and was not able to make contact with you at the time, a warrant could be placed on your vehicle descrption and username.

Traffic Warrants: Issued for any traffic violation and would result in the adding of +1 ticket to your vehicle; applies to only the vehicle.
Felony Warrants: Issued for any Felony Violation and would result in the adding of +1 felony ticket to your username; applies to the username and not the vehicle.

Please keep in mind of the "Pit-Warping" kickable offense seen below if you decide to evade a traffic warrant by warping to the pits.

Warrants may also be issued by the SHP Warrant Task Force, which is a division of the SHP specifically dedicated to tracking down and serving warrants.

Kickable offenses:

*Disregarding Rules - The host of any official Sarthe Highway Patrol-Highway Simulator reserves the right to kick anyone at anytime (with a warning) for the offense of “disregarding rules”. If you were kicked for this reason, you, at some point were: excessively speeding, excessively reckless, *hot-lapping or breaking any other rules excessively with no regard or respect to the room or it’s rules. This type of activity can destroy a lobby and it is the hosts responsibility to keep a well running room. We appreciate your understanding!

Impersonating Police- Whilst in an official Highway Simulator lobby, it is not acceptable to drive any car that resembles any sort of government agency such as but not limited to law enforcement or fire/ems. Civilian vehicles must not have any logos and/or verbiage that describes, depicts or resembles any government agency, such as but not limited to: 911, police, highway patrol, fire or rescue. This also includes the use of vehicles with “safety car” lights and/or decal lights, even if you are using a vehicle that has a safety car or pace car livery. Impersonating can also be charged if a civilian is flashing their headlights as to actively pull civilians over for any sort of reason. This can also be reasonably charged if a civilian has issued any sort of ticket that resembles a ticket similar to what is being issued in the lobby. This rule is created in order to be able to have a sort of similar environment to real life and to ensure that civilians of an SHP Highway Simulator are protected from people that may maliciously impersonate law enforcement as a false authority.

Cop Baiting - Purposely breaking the law in front of an SHP Trooper is a kickable offense. Typical cop-baiting scenario: You see a Trooper sitting at the chicane taking radar. You then go right up to that Trooper, do a burnout and then take off in a pursuit.

Pit-warping - It is a kickable offense to warp to the pits while being pursued by law enforcement. Whether it’s driving into the pits or just warping, it can get you kicked! It is always a great idea to make sure that you are not being pursued by law enforcement before you decide to go to the pits by checking your surroundings.

Disrespect - Our organization is ran as a privately owned, voluntary, non-profit community, so if you went into someone’s business and were rude and disrespectful, that business owner or managers would kick you out! The same goes as in our lobbies! That being said, the host of any official Sarthe Highway Patrol-Highway Simulator lobby reserves the right to kick anyone from the lobby without warning at any time for reasons of “disrespect”. Please treat others as you wish to be treated and have fun in the lobbies without getting kicked!

Information about SHP Troopers:

SHP Troopers use different types of vehicles to patrol the lobbies. The SHP has been in operation for nearly ten years... that being said, it is absolutely NOT reasonable to subject our Troopers, that volunteer their time for all of us, to only be able to use Safety Cars for patrol. In addition to that, SHP Troopers reserve the right to also use un-marked/undercover vehicles as well as patrol cars with markings barely visible in normal conditions called "ghost units".

SHP Troopers are also trained to visually detect speed without speed detection devices to which GT7 does not provide us to use. To use in addition to visual speed detection, we also use timed radar operations to either charge speeding or to confirm that someone is speeding. Those certified in timed radar operations are a part of our SHP H.E.A.T division "Highway Enforcement of Agressive Traffic".

Helicopter Operations:

Since GT7 also does not give us the ability to fly helicopters in-game, we may use the spectate option to monitor civilians... not to worry, there are Trooper regulations for how long that can be used, what specific ranks can use it, and to what degree they can use it for*. For example, we may use it to mainly catch civilians who excessively speed and/or those that are commiting Felony Vehicle Contest (racing). *The host, for lobby regulating purposes, reserves the right to spectate the lobby for any reason in order to maintain a lobby that is rather calm and well maintained.

Reporting a Hit & Run Violation:

You may report a hit & run violation through our discord server by submitting a ticket on the #911-report-ticket channel. In order for us to be able to charge the violation, you must provide sufficient video evidence. The evidence must provide the username of the suspect and/or the vehicle involved which can be traced to the known user of said vehicle. Results may vary if the video evidence shows you also committing a violation as well which could contribute to the cause of the crash. If determined the suspect at fault left the scene, then a warrant would then be placed on the username and not the vehicle description, due to the fact that "Felony Warrants" attach to the user and not the vehicle description. Intoxication Policy:

If you are suspected to be impaired by alcohol or any type of drug or substance to the point of disrupting the lobby or any members, then you are not permitted to be in the lobby. If you do, then you may be asked to leave the room.
